Many years ago, I was living in San Francisco, working at an art store and making paintings. All of a sudden I really wanted to learn how to screen print. Somehow I had managed to get through 4 years of art school without ever taking a printmaking class. My roommate at the time was enrolled in CCAC, so I went with her to register for classes and got into Screen printing with Thomas Wojak. Not quote sure how I did it, as there was a waiting list of students that were enrolled full time at the college. Anyway, that is how my love affair with screen printing began. The print shop was open all night, and I spent many a night there printing t shirts and posters and wondering how I had never done this before. This was a really influential time in my art making- something with me and screen printing just clicked. It opened me up to a new way of thinking about making images, somehow took the pressure off and made me feel free to just make. Well here we are about 10 years later and obviously am so glad I took that class. It had influenced my life in so many ways. So thank you Thomas Wojak! I wouldn’t be where I was today if it wasn’t for you.
